Spartak Primorie vs Unics Kazan Game Roundup #1

The First game of the 2011-2012 Russian League Season (PBL) vs Unics Kazan was a thriller!  Spartak Primorie is back in the top division of Russia and the first game was against a Euro-league team at home. In front of a packed crowd of about 2,000 fans Spartak Primorie took the game by storm from the beginning until the final buzzer. It was a great team effort we were able to convert baskets off our defense. Our transition game was working very well and we took a 51-39 lead into halftime.

In the 2nd half we maintained the lead playing very aggressive defense but Unics cut into the lead during the 4th quarter to make it a single digit deficit. Down the stretch we hit some big shots and got the defensive stops we needed in order to secure a huge 80-73 victory over Unics!

Unics Kazan was led by Terrel Lyday with 15 points, Henry Domercant with 13 points and 4 rebounds, and Mike Wilkinson with 10  Points for Spartak

Primorie was led by Evgeny Baburin with 11 points, Cuthbert Victor with 10 points and 8 rebounds, Jeleel Akindele with 13 points, and myself with 18 points, 11 assists, and 6 rebounds.

This was the first time Spartak Primorie has defeated Unics Kazan in a Russian League game so it felt great to be a part of history! I want to thank the fans for coming out and showing great support!

Busta Rhymes Live!!

Torey Thomas and Justice 360 Entertainment,
Presents Busta Rhymes

A Hip Hop legend and Icon came to White Plains. In true Torey Thomas fashion he made the impossible happen. Torey Thomas along with Justice 360 Entertainment brought not only the legendary DJ Funk Master Flex out, but also accomplished getting the one and only Iconic Busta Rhymes to perform at Cabo Lounge in White Plains, NY on Saturday, July 9th 2011.  People came out in overwhelmingly large numbers to get a glimpse of this Hip Hop Icon, let alone get in to watch him perform.  Hundreds lined the streets before 10pm and by 12am Cabo’s walls were busting at the seams, while the line continued to grow outside. This event was unmatched Torey Thomas himself was amazed with the turn out.  If you are wondering, why all the fuss about Busta Rhymes, here are some things you should know.

In 1996 Busta Rhymes busted out on the Hip Hop scene after leaving Leaders of the New School with “Whoo-Hah!, Got you all in check”.  With his quick tongue, comedic undertones and mastery of word play, he captivated the words attention.  He continued on that path with singles like; Put Your Hands Where my Eyes Can See, Gimme Some More, Break Ya Neck, Pass the Courvoisier and Make it Clap, this are songs that will forever be ingrained in our minds and will always get the party going.  He has also collaborated with Icons of other genres such as Mariah Carey and Janet Jackson.  We love Busta Rhymes for his consistency of lyrical content and style. He is a significantly identifiable voice in Hip Hop. There may be many that try to duplicate this man, but with more than 15 years in the game and a sound like no other MC they on in an uphill battle.

The 914 Artist Showcase!

Hip Hop Showcase

Do you Love real Hip Hop? GOOD so do we.  Thanks to Torey Thomas the emerging Hip Hop Talent of Westchester received a rare opportunity to showcase their Spitfire, Lyrical master pieces to a crowd of over 100 hip hop lovers. On Thursday, June 23rd 2011, Torey Thomas along with Jackie Blue’s Lounge of White Plains, NY, gave stage to the 12 of the 914 area artists such as JCA, Show- Off, Loose Canons, T.R.E. Double that came back home after moving away to Atlanta  Malley, R3play, Biz of Laslaf, and Cory Flook .  This crowd was excited to see faces they knew and loved taking the stage. They rhymed along with every lyric and gave massive amounts of love to these artists making history one word at a time.

This event was monumental not only for its talent but for its message, Real Hip Hop still lives and it’s here to stay. A night where almost three hours of non commercial hip hop was played and the crowd was moved was an amazing sight. Some of these artists get more chances to hit the stage than others, but it was great for one night to see them all come together. This event also broke the stereotype of all Hip Hop shows ending in violence, not a single incident occurred which proved that not only is Hip Hop here to stay but it is all grown up.
