On March 25th Spartak Primorie vs Enisey at home. This was a very hard fought game versus a scrappy Enisey team. Enisey got off to a very good start taking a 22-12 lead after the 1st quarter but we stormed back in the 2nd quarter out scoring Enisey 28-14 taking a 40-36 lead into halftime.  The second half was back and forth but we finally took the lead in the fourth quarter to secure a 73-65 win and eliminate Enisey from playoff contention.

Enisey was led by Brian Chase with 18 points, Alex Trushkin 13 points and 9 rebounds, and Dusin Sakota with 11 points.

Spartak was led by Evgeny Baburin and Nikolay Padius both with 9 points and myself with 20 points and 4 assists.

On March 30th Spartak Primorie vs Lokomotiv at home. Lokomotiv and extremely talented team really came out on fire scoring 35 first quarter points really putting us in a hole earlier. We fought back in the game and cut it to 5 points in the third quarter 56-51 but could not get any closer. They played an extremely good game and took home the 92-80 victory.

Lokomotiv was led by Jeremiah Massey with a double double of 13 points and 13 rebounds, Sergey Bykov with 20 points and 7 assists, Ali Traore 18 points and 7 rebounds, and Maxim Grigoryev with 15 points.

On April 5th Spartak Primorie vs Nizhniy Novgorod at home.  This was an extremely difficult match we have just played them two times previous for the Russian Cup Quarterfinals and now again for the Russian League regular season and each game was a battle!  The game was dead locked at 22 after the first quarter both teams played intense on defense and executing on offense.  Nizhniy stepped it up and took a 6 point lead into halftime.  In the 2nd half the game remained close but we pulled away thanks to making good team plays and defensive stops.

NN was led by Primoz Brezec with 15 points and 8 rebounds, Dmitriy Golovin 13 points and 9 rebounds, Semen Antonov 13 points and 5 rebounds, and Ali Pustohvar with 14 points.

Spartak Primorie vs Niznhy Novgorod Game Roundup #3

Spartak Primorie was on the road playing against Niznhy Novgorod November 3rd and it was an overtime thriller!  In the first half of action it was back and forth both teams exchanging baskets and playing tough defense. There were many lead changes but it was deadlocked 39-39 going into halftime. NN came out in the 3rd period strong rebounding the ball and playing a good inside out game which led to a 62-56 lead going into the 4th quarter.

We kept fighting the whole game using our up tempo game to our advantage and closing the 6 point gap. We out rebounded NN 39-31 which gave us more opportunities to score baskets. In the overtime it was a low scoring affair the defense locked in and free-throws became a necessity! When the buzzer sounded Spartak defeated NN 89-88!

NN was led by Michal Ignerski with 24 points and 6 rebounds, Ivan Paunic with 21 points, Nemanja Protic with 15 points, and Ernest Bremer with 10 points and 5 assist.

Spartak-Primorie vs Krasnie Krilya Game Roundup #2

The 2nd game in the Russian League for us was against Krasnie Krilya at home. This game was a tough fought game. Which was close from beginning to the end. Spartak started off in front with a small lead of 44-40 going into halftime. Both teams played at a similar game tempo in the first half exchanging baskets but in the 2nd half the game slowed down.

Krasnie Krilya converted more baskets in the paint than we did and their shooting percentage was higher which allowed them to take the lead in the 4th quarter after we were leading most of the game.

We fought very hard played aggressive defense but did not convert on our shots in particular free-throws down the stretch. I missed 4 uncharacteristic free-throws in crucial moments of the game and I really let my team down. Our shoots weren’t falling as we want them to but that did not keep us out of the game we still had a chance to win the game but let it slip through our hands.  Krasnye Krylya finished out the game making a few big plays down the stretch to ultimately win 81-74.

Krasnie Krilya was led by Dragan Labovic with 23 points and 8 rebounds, Brion Rush with 14 points and 3 assists (including a crucial 3-pointer), Feder Likholitov with 13 points and 8 rebounds, and Ex-NBAer Jarvis Hayes with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

Spartak Primorie was led by Cuthbert Victor with 12 points and 8 rebounds, Jeleel Akindele with 11 points and 4 rebounds, and Myself with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 4 steals.

The Vladivostok fans were great I want to thank you for the enthusiasm and energy. This was certainly a tough loss for Spartak but we will rebound from it. We will not be home until February as we are about to start on our 7 straight away games. We will need all your support as we move forward.
